Deer Ears

Fgallery1-1Everything moving, pulsing, crackling, waiting

Beats swoop overhead

Birds fly south

Wings flapping, water rippling

Horses stamp into the silence

Two girls perched by the water’s edge

Daredevil bats flapping frantically over their heads

Darkness covers us like the double crust of a blackberry pie

Everything moving, pulsing, crackling, waiting

Senses Shifting, smelling

Autumn in haystraw, blackberries, scents I can taste

In oases of silence, an awarness of quiet

Sitting with timelessness,

with false perceptions of stillness

Everything moving, pulsing, crackling, waiting

(Whatcom Falls Park near Scudder Pond, Moon of the Deer, September 2009)
